Steamed Dumplings with The Best Dumpling Sauce
This (at least in my opinion) the best dumpling sauce! It’s easily customisable of course so you can adjust everything to suit your taste!! One of my favourite ways to enjoy dumplings is by either steaming or boiling these and finishing it off with what I like to call the best or the ultimate sauce - with the perfect balance of savoury, heat, bit of sweetness and acidity. Anyway, these are Tofu and Mushroom Siomai (or shu mai) that I actually made two ways: steamed and fried! I love my Siomai topped with some chili garlic sauce and a dipping sauce with soy sauce, more chili garlic sauce, and calamansi (Philippine lime) juice hehe.

These are Microwave Cheung Fun or rice noodle rolls filled with some mushrooms and scallions, finished off with chili garlic oil, scallions, and a generous amount of sweet soy sauce (well actually I drowned mine in sauce). Have you ever tried these? They’re a childhood favourite (still are) and bring back a lot of childhood memories involving late-night dim sum runs.

Cheater Crystal Dumplings made with Rice Paper
These Cheater Crystal Dumplings are made with rice paper for that chewy skin similar to those made with a mix of rice flour and starches in Chinese restaurants and dim sum places! These are gluten-free and vegan, filled with a mix of tofu, mushrooms, and veggies and enjoyed with a delicious dipping sauce.
Vegan Steamed “Pork” Buns (Filipino-Style)
Siopao is the Filipino version of Chinese buns or bao zi, 包子. Here we have Asado Siopao, which is a Filipino version of Char Siu Baos. Asado is the term we use for char siu, the barbecue meat used as filling. These really hit the spot and I love having siopao for a hearty merienda (afternoon snack). These are also super handy to have since you can just reheat some when you’re craving some!
