As a 4th grade teacher, I have found it VERY difficult to find Mythology resources aligned directly to the Common Core Standards. This led me to create this document, and I'm very pleased with it! ELA Common Core Standard: RL.4.4 Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including those that allude to significant characters found in mythology (e.g., Herculean). Directions: Choose 5 words and/or phrases from Greek Mythology to research. Give its meaning, the Greek Myth it originated (or came from), and an icon to represent that word or phrase from Greek Mythology. * Amazon * Chaos/Chaotic * Dog as Man’s Best Friend of Faithful Companion * Fate * Fury * Giant/Titan * To Harp * Herculean * Hot as Hades * Leave No Stone Unturned * Midas Touch * Nemesis * Pandora’s Box * Trojan Horse * Modern Day Medusa Your students will need Internet access and/or books from Greek Mythology.
