There is often confused when a workout program calls for lunges and then later it calls for split squats. So which is it? What are you actually supposed to be performing in that part of the workout? If the program calls for a 'lunge' typically it means a stepping motion for each rep. This could be reverse or forward. If it says split squat, that means that you will get in a 'lunge' position but you will not be stepping each movement. It is simply up and down motion.
