Bookmark Size: 6.5in Long x 2.5in Wide x 1/8 Thick Wood Selection (see images for examples): Cherry, Sapele, Walnut, Mahogany, Red Oak How It's Made: What you see is the typical happy, go-lucky, smiling Golden Retriever. What I see is my 2 year old Red Golden Retriever named Gus! This was the first time that I used Illustrator in 4-5 years so it took me a few days of deleting/starting over to perfect every detail, right down to the little hairs that are always sticking out from his ears (my favorite part). Once I finished the dog portion and realized how much detail I had, I knew I couldn't leave the bottom half blank. I went around the house and found all of the hard-covered books that I had and stacked them to get the "perfect stack" that I then added to my illustration. You would think I was done after that... I thought that I could just hit print with random settings on the laser engraver but really, I needed to find the perfect wood for the perfect engrave. I started with 1/16 basswood which did not engrave as dark as I wanted it to. So, to make it pop, I tried to stain and engrave over that... Still didn't get anywhere near what I wanted! I finally splurged and bought a variety of woods that ended up being my final piece that makes the bookmark that I am selling here today. I wanted to share the happiness of my dog with those who also love Goldens, those who may have just lost their dog, or general dog lovers.
