I was surprised to see how dry the beach floor was, given the regular tides and recent rain we've had. It was a hot afternoon, but even so, it's the kind of thing I'd expect to see in a desert somewhere. Hale Lighthouse is on the banks of the Mersey, near picturesque Hale Village.
