Happy Mother's Day
Mother's Day is a special occasion celebrated and commemorated worldwide to honor and express gratitude for the special women in our lives - our mothers. Mother's Day originates from legends from ancient Greece and Rome, especially about the goddess Rhea - mother of many gods in ancient Greek mythology. However, some information suggests that Mother's Day originated in the 17th century in England, also to honor the Virgin Mary. Mother's Day is observed on different dates in various countries, with the most common being the second Sunday of May or the fourth Sunday of Lent. Mother's Day as we know it today was founded by Anna Jarvis in the United States in 1908. It wasn't until 2014 that Mother's Day was officially recognized by President Woodrow Wilson as a national holiday.
