My Best Friend, Yours of November 12 is before me. I wish I could write you every day, more than once for although I have a Number of Friends, . . ., yet all the Friendship I have for others is far unequal to that which warms my Heart for you. . . But the Calls of Friendship and of private Affection must give Place to those of Duty and Honour, even private Friendship and Affections require it . . . ~ John Adams to Abigail, December 3, 1775

Adams House (Harvard University) - Cambridge, Massachusetts
Adams House at Harvard University. James Phinney Baxter, the first Master of Adams House, chose to name the new House after John Adams and the Adams family, which has made a distinguished contribution to American history. The family has produced two presidents, several ambassadors, leading industrialists, a famous historian, and one of the great women of the Colonial and Federal periods. Portraits of various Adamses hang on the Dining Hall walls. DiscoverHarvard.com.
