In 2021 AD Christine Foltzer hit me up to let me know that the final book in The Locked Tomb trilogy would actually be TWO books, and that as such we'd need to paint another cover (the cover for Alecto the Ninth had been finished the previous year). Continuing here in reverse chronological order: In 2020 my wrist was mostly mended and I was looking for the right project to get me back into work. Shawn Speakman at Grim Oak press reached out to see if I wanted to illustrate an OG urban fantasy classic about someone with PTSD. Easy deadline; lots of creative freedom; abstract descriptions of magic and the resulting confusion. Sounded perfect to me.

Now, let's wrap up this saga. You'll remember from Part 1 that the publisher (Orbit), approved "Sketch A" for the cover, but also approved "Sketch B" as an interior piece. The tricky thing about that was that the interiors had to be painted in "duotone." No, I'd never heard of it
