The curvature of the Netflix logo across a screen imitates the curve of a cinema or theatre. When the logo is small it is less obvious but when shown across a full screen the imitation is clear. The black outline works as a shadow to play to this big screen effect and the stark white stands out on the red background making it more eye catching.
