China is a wonderful place to live and work for so many reasons: its extensive cuisine, deep and alluring history, fascinating language, thriving economy, unparalleled natural beauty – the list goes on and on. It’s also a difficult place to live, politically speaking, but that shouldn’t necessarily stop you from moving there.

Many dream of moving abroad. Some seek out the experience, others an escape.  Being an expat can be a worthwhile experience but it’s important not to fall victim to the ‘grass is greener’ fallacy.  As an expat in China, I can say that living abroad comes at the price of “unlearning” the old in order to make room for the new.
