Blue car cake

I made this cake for my son’s 11th birthday. This is his favorite car and wanted a cake to refect his live for this car. I made it into a 3 layer caje 10 inches in diameter. It is frosted with homemade buttercream and I put pie filling in between the cake layers. I frosted the cake in blue and then airbrushed a metalic blue food dye onto the fristing to give it a sheen. The decoations were all done in fondant. The car in top was purchase and is a 1:18 scale diecast mustang.

to make this car cake, I used the crusier cake pan and did as Nancy suggested and added extra cake mix. And with the left over mix I made a few cupcakes.

Less than 48 hours from request to delivery, never ever had so little time to think about what am I going to do and how. It can always be better, and I always see flaws, but I am happy how this one looks in the end.
