Another shirt finished up and heading off to the customer! This one is a 1750's - 1780's men's white linen shirt. These were utilized by both civilians and soldiers alike and it is made from a nice, sturdy white linen shirting. It has the typical triangular neck gussets, narrow shoulder straps and narrow sleeve seam reinforcements for shirts of the period, along with holes in the narrow wristbands for cufflinks. The collar is tall and features two thread buttons and the bosom slit is adorned with a ruffle. The entire shirt was hand-sewn by me using waxed linen thread and period seams and techniques. Most of the seams are backstitched and then felled and the hems are rolled over and whipped.
This listing is for a reproduction 1750's - 1790's men's shirt. The shirt is made from a blue and white checked linen from WM Booth, Draper, copied from extant examples of actual 18th Century checked linen. It is entirely hand-sewn by me using period-correct seams. All seams are sewn using waxed linen thread and are felled for durability. It has the proper neck gusset, shoulder strap and narrow shoulder seam reinforcements, as well as gussets at the bottom slits and bar tacks for durability. The neck closes with two thread buttons and the cuffs have buttonholes for cufflinks. Shirt is unworn and is in brand new condition with no wear. The shirt is approximately a men's Large.

From the @Fort Ticonderoga collection. buff leather breeches, ca. 1780. They were owned by Jacob Schieffelin and are in a remarkable state of preservation remaining today as supple as the day they were made. The buttons are a white metal (not pewter); plain at the knee and leather covered at the waist. The waist measures about 34 inches. This pair of breeches was acquired by the museum in 1946 from a descendent of Schieffelin.

An Officer of the 15th (or King’s) Regiment of (Light) Dragoons, 1768, by Tilly Kettle. The battle honor ‘Emsdorf’ (1760), during the Seven Years War, seen on the front of this officer’s helmet, was the first ever to be awarded to a British regiment. Granted by Royal Warrant in 1768, the right to bear the word on guidons and appointments was only given to the 15th (or King’s) Regiment of (Light) Dragoons. These helmets were made of black-enamelled copper, with a crest of red horsehair.
