Marlana Vassar - "Flora"

Marlana Vassar - Flora - Bronze⁠ 48" h x 18.8" diameter⁠ Marlana Vassar is an African American artist and designer whose work has been featured in the @carnegiemuseumofart among other locations. A Pittsburgh area artist and University of Pittsburgh alum (2006), Marlana is largely self-taught as an artist and her philosophy of balancing style and substance has attracted a diverse audience to her work. ⁠ The first of Marlana's works in bronze, this sculpture required 103 artisan labor hours to produce at Bollinger Atelier. Marlana sculpted an original in clay and the clay original was 3d scanned to produce a digital 3d model. ⁠ 📸: @dvmariot, @theheadspaceofsipos⁠ ⁠ ⁠

Stephanie Hunter - "Francis Munds"

Stephanie Hunter - Francis Munds - Bronze⁠ 72” h x 45” w x 45” d⁠ ⁠Frances Willard Munds - (June 10, 1866 - December 16, 1948) was elected Arizona’s first female Senator and worked for the rights of women and children. Her margin of victory was wide—she won 600 votes more than the second place candidate. ⁠ ⁠ The victorious new senator said, “We believe that we have proved ourselves worthy of the ballot. Women have been earnest in their endeavors to support the best candidate and to work by the right means for the right measures.”⁠ Her statue now stands among the monuments in Wesley Bolin Plaza on the east end of the Arizona Capitol. ⁠ ⁠ 📸: @theheadspaceofsipos ⁠
