Late-Ottoman headgear adorned with silver coins, covered by a silk “Bağdad bürgüsü” (‘bürgü’, or ‘ferace’, which is a kind of large baggy cloak used for outdoors). This one is made of silk brocade, with tiny golden stars woven into the fabric. Urban dress, late 19th century. (Kavak Costume Collection-Antwerpen/Belgium).

The silk ensemble (‘gömlek’/shirt + ‘şalvar’/baggy trousers) is embroidered with delicate ‘gold’ metallic thread.
